Siguiendo con Ravel, hoy estoy escuchando las "Trois Chansons", lo único que tiene escrito para coro a capella si no me equivoco.

Son de 1914-15, del tiempo de la guerra, lo cual explica el carácter y el tema de la segunda canción. Curiosamente, la letra la escribió el propio Ravel.

Este año es el 150 aniversario de Ravel y he pensado hablar de vez en cuando de su música por aquí.

Hoy comparto un ciclo de canciones que descubrí hace poco y que me parecen muy especiales. La segunda es una impresionante denuncia del colonialismo (en 1926, cuando se escribió la obra, Madagascar era colonia francesa. No obtuvo su independencia hasta 1960).

Maurice Ravel, a master of impressionism in music, crafted sounds that still transport us to another world. If I had to choose a favorite, it would definitely be "Boléro" – its hypnotic rhythm and gradual crescendo are simply mesmerizing! The way it builds and evolves is pure genius.
