The ‘Mech Painters Union

For about a year, I’ve been part of a group of BattleTech fans bouncing around the idea of a dedicated painting site for the game. Camo Specs Online does a good job showing off high quality paint schemes, but we thought it would be neat to have an alternative. We wanted to be more accessible by showcasing paint jobs by a wider skill range, and to put more effort into helping others replicate the posted minis.

A few months ago, we started putting the pieces together and preparing to launch, and yesterday we publicly announced the ‘Mech Painters Union. The site has a gallery of miniatures which have artist notes and tags for color, faction, miniature type, and more. Anyone can submit their miniatures through a form on the site. Then we also have a new Discord server spun up for community discussions around BattleTech painting and modeling.

Frog-chan is finished! Prepped a couple areas on the Centurion for NMM, which is going to be extra wild with the right arm's OSL.

If I've fucked up the frog at this point, there's no solution but... THE DIP.

CW: Naked robot and frogs to go with your mostly clothed foliage.

Did some more work on the large foliage, including multiple passes over the full tree before I gave up and resorted to the airbrush to get it bright and smooth enough. It reads a LOT better now, I think.

Slowly deciding on full color scheme for the piece, the foliage is all going to be purples, shooting out to red and blue, while the frog will be a Grünfrosch if I can manage to do the scheme right, and the mech is going to be largely yellows and browns, and I can use this stuff to practice using the new stamping stuff.
